City aid for fire victims maybe out on Tuesday

CITY HALL financial aid to the recent fire victims will likely be released by this week.

Ma. Luz Farañal, focal person for emergencies of the City Social Services and Development Office, said monetary aid for the victims in Bankerohan area and Barangay 37-D in Quezon, Boulevard will likely be out in the afternoon of Tuesday, the first working day for this week.

The celebration of the Kadayawan festival halted some processing works, Farañal said.

Due to the festivity, there has been no work since Friday until today in the city.

Farañal said the financial aid for those victims residing in Brgy. 23-C will, however, not be released on Tuesday.

She said they are still reviewing the number of the recipients. Initial data recorded 37 families were affected by the fire.

“We have to wait for more reports before we can make a payroll,” Farañal said.

Non-financial aid like cookware and food aids were already distributed to the affected areas, she added.

The local government usually provides P10,000 cash assistance to totally damaged homes and P5,000 for partially damaged homes, renters, and boarders.

Fire officials recorded a total of 377 fire incidents from January to Aug. 18, with residential areas reporting the most incidents.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Ramil Gillado, a representative of the Bureau of Fire Protection XI investigation and interrogation division district office, said grass fires were also prevalent, and warned against recklessly throwing of cigarette butts and matches.
