Certified electricians with DLPC’s Project BEST

TWO weeks of intensive training, 17 residents of Brgy. Maa, Davao City finally completed the Project B.E.S.T or Basic Electrician Skills Training of the Davao Light and Power Company. The graduation ceremony was held on April 21, 2017.

Project B.E.S.T. is a community-based training program in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) with the support of JCI Central Davao. The beneficiaries are mostly out-of-school-youths, barangay workers and residents who are interested to become electricians.

Twenty beneficiaries were identified in Brgy. Maa but only 17 trainees completed the training and received a Certificate of Competency or National Certificate 2 (NC2) issued by TESDA. The graduates were all provided with starter kits that they can readily use to start their jobs as electricians.

“Davao Light’s Project B.E.S.T. will not only open a lot of opportunities for livelihood to the graduates but at the same time, will help the barangay create a pool of electricians who can help in their house wiring projects.” said Davao Light’s EVP and COO Engr. Rodger S. Velasco.

“Dako akong pasalamat kay isa ako sa mga napili nga muapil ani nga training. Malipayon kaming tanan na migraduwar kay dako kaning tabang sa among kaugmaon. Unta daghan pag matabangan ang Davao Light og Aboitiz Foundation.” said one of the Project B.E.S.T. graduates, Roseman Lupon.

Cal, JCI Central Davao Representative, Davao Light’s Community Relations Manager Fermin P.
