Center served 1,000 in August

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI said the region’s One Stop Service Center of OFWs (OSSCO) served about 1,000 clients in its first month of operation following its opening last August 11 in Gaisano Mall.

According to the information from DOLE XI’s official website, the center served 506 overseas clients and 831 local clients during the first month.

It said that most of the OFWs obtained National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance with a total of 165 clients, followed by Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) with 48 clients, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) with 39 clients.

For local clients, 153 clients availed services of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC), 140 for the HDMF, 130 for Social Security System and 85 clients for the services of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

However, even with OSSCO XI serving local clients, DOLE XI director Raymundo Agravante stressed that the OFWs are still the main priority of the OSSCO services.

“OSSCO Davao with its lead agency being the POEA, prioritizes in catering on the needs of our OFWs. That is why we are continually inviting all our OFWs that we have this facility made accessible for their convenience,” he said.

Among those services that can be obtained from the center are those of Commission on Higher Education (CHED); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA); Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA); National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO); Professional Regulation Commission (PRC); Bureau of Immigration (BI); Philippine National Police (PNP).

It also covers the agencies of BIR, SSS, PSA, HDMF, OWWA, and PHIC.
