CEAP MINDANAO GAMES| Ateneo Zamboanga pair wins dancesports

THE DYNAMIC tandem of Ronick Decin and Yvonne Napao from Ateneo de Zamboanga University of Region 9 captured the first gold medal yesterday at the start of the 2015 Catholic Educational Associations of the Philippines (CEAP) Mindanao Games held at the UIC Bajada gym in Davao City.

Decin and Napao, both 19 years old, bested the two other pairs from Regions 10 and 11 by performing the Foxtrot dance moves.

Region 10’s Alex Jamero II and Riza Joy Cadeliña of the Fr. Saturnino Urious University in Butuan City placed first runner-up, while the duo of Region 11’s Edward John Obejeño and Niedera Peñanueva of Holy Cross of Davao College placed second runner-up.

Meanwhile, Region 10 represented by Xavier University of Cagayan de Oro City lambasted Region 9’s Ateneo de Zamboanga University in three straight sets, 25-10, 25-18, 25-11 at the opening of the women’s volleyball held also at UIC Bajada gym.

Host Region 11 also made their presence felt by routing Region 13 in three straight sets, 25-8, 25-4, 25-12.

Games resume today while the finals will be played tomorrow according to over-all tournament coordinator Billy Cruzada.

City Administrator Melchor Quitain represented City Mayor Rody Duterte and delivered the message during the opening program attended by the directors and officers of CEAP led by Jimmie-lou de Vega, executive director of the host Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS).
