Captain Clarion: I will serve Davao the best that I can

BARANGAY Captain Carmelo Clarion of Mulig, Toril, set to fill up the vacant third district councilor seat, has vowed to serve the city the best he can.

“With the trust given to me, I will pay it with genuine and god-fearing service to the people of Davao, especially the residents of the third district,” Clarion said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the local political party Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod for the support.

“I am very happy with the trust they gave me,” he said.

The incoming city councilor said he did not expect to be a member of the city council.

On March 10, Mayor Sara Duterte announced that she will be recommending Clarion to fill up the seat in the council vacated by the promotion of then city councilor Bernard Al-ag as the vice mayor, replacing then resigned Paolo Duterte.

Mayor Sara said her brother, Paolo, even endorsed Clarion due to his experience as a local leader in the third district.

The mayor said the party members see the experience of Clarion, especially in issues concerning the district, and that it will be useful in making legislation.

Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod has forwarded the recommendation to the office of President Rodrigo Duterte who has the last say on the recommendation.

A seat from the city council was vacated after Al-ag assumed the Vice Mayor position last January, since Paolo Duterte resigned from his position last Dec. 25, citing delicadeza following the squabble between him and daughter Isabelle.

His resignation resulted to a vacuum as the councilor Al-ag assumed the Vice Mayor post, being the highest vote-earner among the elected city councilors in the city.
