Campaign vs police members in illegal drugs intensified, say

THE POLICE Regional Office has strengthened its campaign against its personnel involved in the illegal drugs trade.

Sr. Supt. Aaron Aquino, police deputy regional director for operations, confirmed that the office has received several reports about the involvement of several police members in illegal drugs, although the reports have nto been verified.

Yan ang tinututukan namin na dapat kapag ang pulis ay nainvolve sa katiwalian lalo na sa drugs ay palakasin pa lalo ang counter intelligence at gawan nang report,”Aquino said.

He said investigators have started looking for pieces of evidence against those tagged in the report so that proceedings, both administrative and legal, can take place and those found guilty could be punished.

He said cases must be filed in courts so that those found guilty would be kicked out of the service. ”Kasi kapag transfer lang kung saan siya ma assigned doon na naman siya gagawa nang krimen,” he added.

The regional office has also imposed stringent measures particularly in the screening of new police applicants. He said there were those who were using illegal drugs even before the entered the service. “Kaya pag nagpulis maging protektor talaga nang droga,”Aquino said, while other new recruits got influenced by those running the trade.

Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte earlier said there were several members of the police of the city who even served as protectors of those involved in the illegal trade.

Although he did not admit nor name anyone, Aquino said there were indicators that those involved in illegal drugs proliferation were tipped off raids.

To eliminate possible leaks in the operations, Aquino said cellular devices of those who are briefed on the activity will confiscated.

Several members of the police have been subjects of both investigation of the Regional Internal Affairs Services and cases in court.
