Buy-bust nets 3 drug pushers

MORE than P150,000 worth of shabu was seized during a buy-bust operation by the drug enforcement unit (DEU) of the Talomo police Monday night.

Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum, director of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), told TIMES that the shabu was seized from Ruth Basiliote Ruden, 48, a resident of Toril.

The buy-bust operation was conducted on Santo Cristo and San Roque streets in Barangay Daliao, Toril at 9:40 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Ruden was nabbed after she handed one big rectangular size of plastic sachet containing what was believed to be shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange of P19,000.

The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI.

Seized from the possession of Ruden were the prepared boodle money, three sachets (big and medium) of shabu with an estimated street value amounting to P157,500.

Chief Insp. Ronald Lao, commander of Talomo police, said the suspect usually transported drugs in the districts of Talomo and Toril.

Also yesterday, at 12:45 a.m., a student and his companion were arrested by operatives of Sasa police drug enforcement unit in coordination with PDEA XI in Matina.

Tagum identified the arrested suspects as Enzo Apao, 23, student, and Aloissa Marie Guibingcan, 23, marketing staff. Both are natives of Cotabato City who presently reside in Sto. Niño, Barangay Matina Crossing.

The suspects were caught while negotiating for the sale of marijuana to a police poseur-buyer.

Recovered from the suspects were one pack of a square-shaped plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves, color blue plastic bag containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and P500 marked money.

Also confiscated were two cellular phones and a motorcycle.

The confiscated marijuana was estimated to cost P100,000.

The suspects are temporarily detained at the Talomo Police Precinct while police are preparing charges to be filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
