Butuan golfer Nakila bags P1.7 million worth of prizes in 3rd Phoenix Pulse Open

Butuan-based Ivan Nakila stole the limelight by winning a sum total of P1.7 million as hole-in-one prize, Friday during the 3rd Phoenix Pulse Open golf tournament held at the Cebu Golf and Country Club, here.

Nakila aced the 15th hole using his Royal Collection Rescue and a #04 Dunlop ball for one million cash, P100,000 worth of fuel cards from Phoenix Petroleum and a brand new Tata Manza sedan worth at P600,000.

 

He emerged as the biggest winner so far in the tournament’s third edition held at the Cebu Country Club and probably Phoenix Petroleum Philippines’ 10th since it started in Davao played at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

 

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Incorporated Senior Vice President for External Affairs Business Development and Security Atty. Raymond Zorilla, Chairman Domingo Uy and Pioneer Insurance’s Richmond Alejo awarded Nakila with his prize during the awarding ceremonies.

 

On the other hand, Davao City-based golfers also shared the winners’ podium after capping separate wins in their respective divisions. Randy Cadiongan took the Class B division gross title with 32 points while Paul Vincent Montejo bagged the Class D gross crwon with 23 points. Alejo completed the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club roster with a net runner-up victory in Class D with 44 points.

 

Other individual winners saw Ferdie Chua 33 pts. (overall gross champion), Ethan Maamo 46 pts (overall net champion); Nino Bascon 32 pts (Class A gross champion), Jun Zambo 30 pts (Class A gross r-up); Marlo Cugtas 37 pts (Class A net champion), Julius Pirerre Neri 37 pts (Class A net r-up); Nelson Yuvallos 31 pts (Class B gross r-up), Hugo Saurat 45 pts (Class B net champion), Jason Yu 44 pts (Class B gross r-up); Joy Anthony Ong 27 pts (Class C gross champion), Peter Mancao 24 pts (Class C gross r-up); Jack Huang 44 pts (Class C net champion), Bob de Ocampo 40 pts (Class C net r-up); Mark Leviste 22 pts (Class D gross r-up) and Eric Lim 44 pts (Class D net champion).

 

For the team division, the five-some of Mar Selmar, Glenn Siao, Alberto Solis, Rey Sanchez and Rafaelito Barino took the first place trophy with 171 points followed by the cast of Ferdie Chua, Neil Ong, Thomas Castillo, Charles Ong and Mark Guanzon with 169. Settling for third place are Victor Yuvallos, Edwin Medalle, Gene matinga, Bebot Baldemor and Choie Ramos with 165.

 

In the 2-Partner Class winners saw Herbert Ong (41) and Peter Po Sr. (45) with 86 points followed by Jiggy Akol (46) and Lorenze Florendo (38) with 84 and Gibson Balangauan  (37) and Ethan Maamo (46) with 83.

 

Special prizes were also given to Nino Bascon (nearest to the pin), Hugo Saurat (longest drive) and Joseph Yukayguan (accurate drive).

 

The 2018 Phoenix Pulse Amateur Open Golf tournament was held for the benefit of the Phoenix Foundation Inc. and presented by Phoenix Petroleum, Pioneer Insurance, Luzviminda and Marra Builders Inc., with co presenters FF Cruz and Co., Vitol, Mechatrends Contractor Corp., and Tata Motors. The cooperators are BDO and Harley Davidson while the major sponsors are Brenton Engineering Products, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Charles Monat, Dalmore, Credit Suisse, TOIC, OVC and Visayan Surety and Insurance Corporation.
