‘Big-fish’ killed in shootout in drug raid; another escape

AN ALLEGED big-time drug dealer was killed while the other eluded arrest during a raid in Km. 12 in Sasa, early morning yesterday.

Sr. Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office, said the operation was conducted by elements of Sasa Police, DCPO and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency through the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 11 Judge Pelagio S. Paguican.

Suspect Melquiadez Valderrama eluded arrest when the operatives were about to enter his house. They seized eight sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from the house.

On the other hand, Vivencio Sabio who attempted to lob a grenade at the authorities, was shot dead.

Operatives were able to recover inside his room seven sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia, a .22 homemade caliber revolver, .38 revolver with five live ammunitions.

Both suspects were considered as “big-time” drug dealers who were monitored for about a week.

The body of Sabio is now in Rivera Funeral Parlor while the police prepare the case against Valderrama.
