BFAR continues to train fisherfolk

THE BUREAU of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI is continuously conducting trainings to fisherfolk in the region following its plan to distribute fiberglass boats this year.

BFAR XI director Fatma Idris said this will equip them with skills on how to properly operate the fiberglass boats once it is distributed.

Idris noted in an earlier interview that a technical team from BFAR XI went to Manay, Davao Oriental to conduct a training to some 100 fishermen who were given supplies needed for the building of fiberglass boats.

She said there are 150 fisherfolk in Davao Region who will be receiving fiber-glass fishing boats expected to be distributed sometime in November.

Each of the fiber glass boats is estimated to cost around P70,000.
