Be vigilant this holiday, police remind shoppers

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) urged the public, especially those shopping during the Yuletide season, to be on the lookout for thieves and robbers.

In an interview yesterday at the covered court of the headquarters at Captain Leonor Domingo, Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan urged shoppers to leave home their valuables when they are out buying gifts, and always be vigilant.

“Please don’t use jewelries also and secure your bags to prevent thieveries,” Gaspan said.”They should also exercise vigilance so that they can’t be victims.”

Meanwhile, a soft deployment of PNP personnel will start on Dec. 1 to secure different activities in the city.

She said city police office director, Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum, already directed the 12 precinct commanders to tighten their security measures in preparation for the Yuletide season. They were also ordered to heighten foot and mobile foot patrols for police visibility.

The spokeswoman also said all PNP personnel are recalled back to barracks as the city is on high alert. That means all leaves of absences will be canceled, except in emergencies.

“We also resumed the random checkpoints to preempt any eventuality,” she said. “This time it would be stricter,” she added.
