Barnuevo, Naranjo head winners in 6th Notre Dame Cup golf

VETERAN parbusters Mike Barnuevo and Elvie Naranjo spearheaded the list of winners at the close of the 6th Notre Dame Cup golf tournament played Saturday at the Apo Golf and Country Club.

Barnuevo stole the limelight by bringing home the overall net champion trophy finishing with a 69 on the scheduled one-day tournament which followed the Systems 36 scoring method as presented by Batch 85- Notre Dame of Kidapawan Boys and Girls HS Alumni Association Incorporated and co-presented by Colorsteel Systems Corporation, a leading manufacturer of pre-painted long span roofing and steel decking products.

Naranjo, on the other hand wound-up with a 79 to emerge as the lowest gross champion.

Other winners saw Division A – Budoy Macapeges 70 (net champion), Jeremiah Co 71 (net 1st r-up), Apo Luna 71 (net 2nd r-up); Division B – Ronald Gumawa 70 (net champion), Leo Batoon 72 (net 1st r-up) and Mohamad Akmad 72 (net 2nd r-up).

In Division C, Manny Eser won the net champion trophy on a countback over Gil Quilla and Gary Santiago after all three wound-up with similar 72s.

Rose Sara also made her presence felt by winning the Ladies division crown with 71 while special awards were given to Ed Gonzaga (accurate drive on hole 1), Boyet Sonico (longest drive – 280 yards) and John Naranjo (nearest to the pin – 91cm).
