Bar closed for allowing minors to drink liquor

A NEWLY opened bar, operating without business permit, has been ordered close after it was reported to have been allowing minors to enter and be served with liquor.

This after photos of the minors drinking liquor inside Art’s Venue became viral on the social media.

Lawyer Marissa Torentera, Business Bureau officer-in-charge, issued the cease and desist notice against bar owner Rolanjay Mistral Artiaga.

Torentera has directed Artiaga to settle the deficiencies or they would be forced to elevate the case to the City Mayor.

Torentera said a five-men team inspected the bar, located at the corner of Padre Gomez and Palma Gil Streets, found out the violations.

On Monday, photos of minors drinking liquid, believed to be alcoholic beverages inside the establishment, was posted on Facebook. It became viral.

The matter reached the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSSDO) and immediately informed the business bureau on the matter the next day.

That day, the team inspected the bar with private KTV rooms.

Torentera said Artiaga, a day after the inspection, went to her office and informed her that they immediately closed their bar.

The Business Bureau chief also revealed that the Vice Regulation Unit also fined the bar for P3,000 for violating the city ordinance prohibiting the selling or allowing minors to buy alcoholic beverages and the Section 7 of Children’s Welfare Code of Davao City.

Torentera said VRU chief Voltaire Engracia and his team happened to conduct an inspection of the bar.
