Art Exchange connects artists in SM City Davao

THE NORTH and the South will come together in a celebration of the arts and culture this Saturday in SM City Davao.

The Cordillera-Mindanao (CorMin) Art Exchange, one of the highlights of the ongoing Visit Davao Fun Sale campaign of the Department of Tourism in the region, will kickoff in the mall’s event center starting 2 PM.

With the goal to strengthen the relationship of Baguio and Davao cities in the field of the arts, this event will connect artists and showcase their craft to the community.

Starting 2 PM, the CorMin art exhibition in the mall will open to the public through a colorful ceremony that includes the introduction of the guest artists, textile exchanges, and cultural performances that encourage participation of mall goers. Art installations can be viewed by the public in key areas of the mall.

Later in the afternoon, a live painting session called Dabawenya Alla Prima will be held featuring reigning Mutya ng Dabaw 2017 Reina Kobayashi.

Both artists from Davao and Baguio will paint her portrait on canvass using various medium: oil, acrylic, graphite, or charcoal. Two other models from Baguio and Davao wearing tribal attire will also join for a live sketching session.

Live music from Davao’s loved performing artists will also fill the air throughout the afternoon.
