THE HOME Development Mutual Fund, popularly known as Pag-IBIG, awarded yesterday the top 10 property developers in Mindanao.

In the awarding ceremony yesterday at The Ritz Hotel-Garden Oases, the top developers were 8990 Housing Development Corp., Johndorf Ventures Corp., Agan Land Corp., VCDU Realty Corp., Liberty Land Corp., Gensan VSM Realty Corp., Jukens Builders and Trade, Davao Joyful Homes Realty Corp., Moderno Citihomes Development Corp. and Argusland Inc.

The awardees, the Pag-IBIG explained, were identified in terms of the value of loans they obtained from the agency.

The agency also recognized Sarangani Resources Corp. and DOLE Philippines Inc. for their collaboration with itself in helping to provide decent homes for their respective employees.

As of last year, data from the agency bared that the loan takeout reached P6.6 billion as 7,500 families in Mindanao availed of the agency’s housing loan, which increased from P5.8 billion in 2015.

Throughout the country, the loan takeout reached to P57.3 billion last year, from P43.93 billion in 2015. Pag-IBIG membership also increased to 17.3 million, including 1.61 million members in Mindanao.

“2016 was a banner year for Pag-IBIG Fund and we wish to share this accomplishment with our partner-developers and stakeholders. They are an important factor for the Fund to accomplish our goal of providing a channel for our Filipino workers to acquire their own homes,” Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti, officer-in-charge of Pag-IBIG, said in a statement.

The agency, he said, targeted to increase the number of Mindanaoans this year to avail of housing loans on at least 8,972 housing units.

Moti said the island has still vast land areas for housing development especially in unserved and underserved areas. “We expect to engage more members to avail of our housing programs in 2017, especially in Mindanao,” he said.
