8 charged for murder

A MURDER case has been filed against eight suspects who conspired in killing a man who impregnated a sister of one of the respondents in Barangay Tibungco, Bunawan last May 14.

The Bunawan Police Station, in the case filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor, identified the respondents as Marlon Buenaflor Gorre, Albert Matibo, Reynald Lacio Paz (aka Renan Paz), Kirvy Alwin Abunda Tanada (aka Kerdot), Emmanuel Abad Cortez (aka Wowie), Rene Boy Abad Cortez (aka Tengkag), Reynaldo Bacus Maton, and Randy Tajana Mercado.

Of the suspects, only Gorre was arrested and is now detained at Bunawan Police Precinct. Prosecutor Rizalyn Gonzales is now resolving the case that led to the death of Joseph Narisma Abao.

Based on the initial investigation, Abao and his friend Roderick Abenon Tantoy were having a drinking session when the suspects, boarding on motorcycles, arrived in Purok 2, Gawad Kalinga, Kabayan Relocation.

Armed with bolos and knives, they jointly attacked Abao. Tantoy tried to pacify but one of the suspects also stabbed him.

Abao sustained multiple hack wounds in the different parts of his body resulting to his death.

Tantoy sustained a stab wound in the lower portion of his chest.

Further investigation revealed that Abao impregnated the sister of suspect Mercado.

Mercado was reportedly against the relationship of Abao and his sister because she is still legally married.  May Ann T. Mahilum/Intern
