70th PAL Interclub Apo seven points behind leader Orchard

HOST Apo Golf and Country Club made their debut at their home turf yesterday pulling off with 120 points for a total of 232 points to only fall seven-point behind leader Orchard Golf and Country Club in the Founders Division on Day 2 of the 70th Philippine Airlines Interclub Men’s Regular Championships.

From its 112 total in Day 1 over at the neighboring Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club, their home debut was anchored by Juan Karlos Alba’s 32 points backed by the pair of Den-Den de Castro and Leo Fusilero who each added similar 30s. Jing Gavino also added 28 while Jorge Martinez’s 25 did not count.

The host squad is only behind by seven points next to leader Orchard Golf and Country Club (123-116-239) followed by Cebu Country Club (113-122-235) and Riviera Golf (116-117-233).

This year’s co-host Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club is at 11th spot with 208 points from rounds of 105 and 103. Yesterday’s count saw Khalik Samanodi scoring 27 points while Leo Yap and Ninot Galicia each had 26. Jose Addy Briones also added 24.

Both clubs will still see action today at the Apo Golf and Country Club while their final day will be at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club on Saturday, March 4.
