6 gamblers sued

SIX INDIVIDUALS will be facing trial before the Municipal Trial Court for their alleged involvement in illegal gambling game.

 Prosecutor Joy C. Bernales-Largo, in her Sept. 18 resolution, found probable cause to hold for trial respondents Anita Puno, Vidal Dayao, Bethzaida Tawacalan, Evelyn Bascon, Christy Jane Crumb, and Benjamin Abella for violation of the Presidential Decree 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling).

 In the afternoon of the Sept.13, the respondents were caught by a police officer in the act of allegedly playing local card game known as tong-its at Corong Compound, Caflor Road, Barangay Catalunan Grande, Talomo District.

 Recovered from them were P200 bet money in different denominations and two sets of playing cards.

 Prosecutor Largo stated in her resolution that the respondents have been lawfully arrested for violation of PD 1602 pursuant to Section 5 paragraph (a) of Rule 113 of the Revised Rules on Criminal Procedures.

 The six respondents are now under the custody of the Talomo Police Precinct.
