5,000 to guard Kadayawan fest

AROUND 5,000 police, military and force multipliers will be deployed in the city starting next week to secure the Kadayawan Festival.

Chief Insp. Andrea dela Cerna, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO-XI), said that members of the police’s Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) will be deployed to the city for the occasion.

The reinforcement troops of the army’s 10th Infantry Division will also be added to the members of Task Force Davao.

“Our security plan will always be joint with the police,” Capt. Rhyan Batchar, 10th Infantry Division Public Affairs Officer said. “We will augment forces coming from Task Force Davao and we will have additional forces to serve as reactionary forces.”

Batchar said two companies of the reactionary will be on standby at Camp Panacan.

Senior Insp. Catherine dela Rey, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said they are already preparing for the augmentation of the personnel coming from the City Public Safety Company.

Also, around 400 members from the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will be deployed to man the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and Pamulak Festival.

Authorities also advised the partygoers not to bring backpacks, canisters, caps, bladed weapons and firearms during the festivity.
