42 victims of pesticide inhalation now stable

FORTY-TWO individuals are now in stable condition after they felt nauseous when they inhaled chemical odor of insecticides around at Km. 9, Barangay Sasa, Buhangin District at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Chief Insp. Emerson Pugong, the commander of Sasa Police Precinct, said that the chemical odor wafting from the house owned by Cosme Sanchez, particularly inside the room of his son, Regil Daya, 23, former employee at BMEG, and a resident of Purok Sto. Niño, Riverside, Km. 9, Sasa.

The BFP Special Rescue Unit, Central 911, and Task Force Davao deployed team to contain the risk and quarantine the area.

Recovered from the said room by the member of BF SRU was one-half sack containing pieces of one liter and 500 ml bottles of insecticide which were buried just one-foot deep in the soil. The bottles were extracted from the area at 6 p.m. of the same day.

The 42 children and adults are already stable. The chemicals are sent to the laboratory for examination.

” So far they are already in their homes and in good condition, ” Pugong said.
