SOLDIERS of the 28th Infantry Battalion collared four alleged members of the New People’s Army, among them a 16-year old boy, in Barangay Dugmanon, San Isidro, Davao Oriental on Tuesday night.

Capt. Andrew Linao, the civil-military operations (CMO) officer of 701st Infantry Brigade, said the soldiers also seized from the rebels were four high powered firearms, ammunition, an improvised explosive device and other materials.

Those arrested were Jerome Jaquin Apyag, 25, single, of Masar Panurava, Maco, Compostela Valley; Jerman Andress, 22, single, of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur; Eking Artchie, 18, of Barangay Langka, Lupon, Davao Oriental and the boy also of Mati City in Davao Oriental.

Linao said the four were arrested when the soldiers received an information that the rebels’ Committee  18 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) was transporting high powered firearms from Mati City on the way to Lupon.

This prompted the military unit to form a team to intercept the firearms, resulting in the arrest of the four.

Also seized from there were digital camera; three cellular phones;  three hammocks;  four backpacks;  two bandoleers;  two pairs of combat boots; medical supplies, documents and P1,926 cash.
