4 bakeries of Pantawid, livelihood beneficiaries launched in District 3

District 3 now boasts of four bakeries owned and managed by 65 beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The Brgy. Biao Joaquin (BBJ) bakery was launched on December 8 of last year while the Salaysay Bagobisa Bakery SLP Association and Upian Bread Makers SLP Association, both in Marilog District, were launched on December 29. The Tawantawan Bakery SLP Association in Baguio District is set to open this last week of January.

All of the 65 Pantawid beneficiaries are graduates of the Bread and Pastry Production training, also conducted by the SLP.

“Dako kaayo among kalipay nga kami nahatagan og dungag nga kapital sa among gamay nga bakery diri sa barangay. Kini usa ka hagit kanamo tanan nga palamboon gayod ang gibubo sa amo nga grasya sa panggamhanan (We are overwhelmed with happiness with the additional capital we received for our small bakery. We are all inspired to make good of this blessing from government),” Gina Bisnar, one of the members of the BBJ bakery said.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program aims to enhance the capabilities of poor Filipino households and individuals by strengthening their skills, competencies, abilities and resources in accessing income-generating opportunities to help improve their socio-economic well-being. (DSWD)
