34 local establishments awarded for upholding consumers’ rights

THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) has recognized 34 establishments in the region that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business.

Of the total, three bagged the top plum, the Gold Bagwis Seal of Excellence, for their outstanding business ethics and practices. These were the Tagum Fiesta Appliance Inc., Pinnacle Appliance Inc.-NCCC and Pinnacle Appliance Inc.-Abreeza.

The establishments were awarded during DTI’s event Negosyo Konsyumer at Iba Pa (NKATBP) at SMX Davao Convention Center.

They were followed by 11 companies that were awarded with Silver Bagwis Seal of Excellence, which are VIC Imperial Appliance Corp., Tagum Commercial and Realty Corp., Desmark Corp., Full-House Hardware and LTS Hardwares in Main Magsaysay, Panacan, Ilustre, Matina Pangi, Cabantian, Calinan and Maa.

The Bronze Bagwis Seal of Excellence, meanwhile, were awarded to O2 Builders-Montevista, Zelid Electrical and Industrial Supplies, Lucariza Enterprises, Mabuhay-LCL Shopping Center, Bethel Enterprises, CMJ Trading, CMJ Trading-Hardware, NCCC Supermarket-Nabunturan and Airtap Industrial Airconditioning and Ref Service Center.

101 Repair Shop, NDS NCCC Department Store-Sto. Tomas, Pinnacle Appliance-Abenson Tagum, UL Marketing and Refcon Services, RGM Electrical Supply, Pujada-Mati Land and Construction Supply Inc., Dellosa-Umali Hardware, M-M Marble and Construction Supply Inc., Cor Jesu Shell Station and Sacred Heart Gas Station also bagged the bronze award.

In the agency’s website, this is part of DTI’s Bagwis Program, which “aims to give due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business where consumers get value for money.”

The program was launched on July 26, 2006.

Maria Belenda Q. Ambi, regional director of DTI XI, said the establishments were awarded in time on the conduct of NKATBP, where the agency showcase its different programs, projects and services that started on Monday until Wednesday.

“This also serves as venue for consumer education and consumer advocacy. We really take into heart that our first responsibility is to serve the clients,” Ambi said.
