3 killed, eight hurt in 2 vehicular accidents

Three died and multiple passengers were injured in two separate vehicular accidents in Barangay Lamanan, Calinan District on May 21.

The fatality was identified as Jubanie Diauna, a minor.
The first incident occurred around 9 a.m. when Rogelio O. Gempesaw, 64, resident of Tugbok District was driving a multicab loaded with five sacks of copra from Barangay Inyangan going to Calinan Poblacion.
Also on board the vehicle were Jubanie Diauna, male, minor, and resident of Pangyan, Calinan; Dionisio Gempesaw Jr. brother, legal age, also a resident of Pangyan; Rogelio Gempesaw Jr., son, 21, and a resident of Biao, Diangga, Tugbok District; and Roberto Aquino, nephew, legal age, also a resident of Biao.
PO2 Peterson Amaguen of the Calinan police said that upon reaching the downhill portion of the road, the vehicle lost the brakes resulting in the driver losing control. He slammed into small creek on the right side of the road.
Those injured were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center. The remains of Diauna were brought to Calinan Angel Funeral Homes.
Meanwhile, around 3 p.m. another vehicular accident occurred in the same barangay.
Reynante P. Tinampay, male, 43, and a resident of Barangay Inayangan, Calinan District was driving an Isuzu Elf truck going uphill near Lamanan bridge when he lost his brakes. The vehicle reportedly rolled backwards, hit the iron railings on the road shoulder, and turned sideways.
Two died on arrival at the Robillo Hospital. They were only identified as Malyn and Sabit.
Five others were also brought to the hospital and are now in stable conditions. All the victims were from Sitio Popo, Barangay Inayangan.
