3 firms looking for local partners

AN OFFICIAL of the an official of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) said yesterday that three companies are planning to partner with local firms for their projects.

“Those (companies) were the pre-identified businesses that expressed strong interest to partner with the local companies in the business-to-business meeting, a side event in Davao Investment Conference (ICon),” said John Tria, ICon program committee chair of DCCCII.

Most of these projects, he said, are in property development, which are vital to the city’s growth.

The business-to-business meeting is part of Davao ICon on July 21-22 at SMX Davao Convention Center in SM Lanang Premier. The meeting is expected to provide the investors a venue to forge partnerships and other deals.

To date, Tria said there are now nearly 200 who confirmed to attend the investment conference despite the presence of Martial Law. The two-day event, he said, will have topics like on agriculture, resurgence of manufacturing and tourism.

The different heads of the administration’s economic team, he said, will serve as speakers. President Rodrigo R. Duterte also confirmed to be the keynote speaker in the event.

Arturo Milan, chair of this year’s Davao ICon and trustee of DCCCII, said the big companies like San Miguel Corp., PLDT, MVP Group of Companies, 8990 Housing Development Corp., Aboitiz Power Corp., Anflocor, BDO, Security Bank, Metrobank and Globe already vowed to attend the event.

The conference, he said, will also be joined by Land Bank and Development Bank of the Philippines and other businesses in the country.

The two-day event is spearheaded by the DCCCII in partnership with the city government.

“There seems to be negative perception due to Martial Law but this Davao ICon is really a go,” Milan said. (By Kristianne M. Fusilero)
