3 charged over drugs

THREE alleged drug peddlers were charged before the Office of the City Prosecutor after they were arrested in the operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI on Feb. 16.

The Office of the City Prosecutor found probable cause to indict Christopher A. Malubay for violation of sections 5 and 12 of the RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002); while Bienvendo G. Medequillo Jr. and Jessie G. Medequillo were charged for violation of Sec. 26 in relation to Sec. 5 of the same law.

Malubay was arrested in YFC village in Agdao in the late morning of Feb. 16 after he sold a sachet of shabu to an anti-narcotics agent. An information reportedly tipped the PDEA of his illegal activities.

Recovered from his possession were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet weighing 0.1732 gram, one self- sealing transparent plastic sachet, one black pouch containing a green disposable lighter, three pieces of rolled aluminum foil strips, P1,000 marked bill and P370 in different denominations.

Meanwhile, an entrapment operation was conducted by the same anti-drug operating unit in the same area that lead to the arrest of respondents Bienvenido and Jessie.

Confiscated from Bienvendo’s possession was the P500 marked money, while recovered from Jessie was a maroon sling bag which contained six rolled papers suspected to be marijuana. Both of them also tested positive in the drug test.

They are all detained in the holding cell of the PDEA XI.
