2nd PSC Inter-Public Schools volleyball set

A total of 32 teams will compete for honors in the 2nd PSC Inter-Public Schools Volleyball Tournament opening at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, to Friday (September 12-14) at the Davao City National High School.

Karlo R. Pates, executive assistant of Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Charles Raymond A. Maxey, said the tournament will have eight teams each entered in the elementary boys and girls and secondary boys and girls divisions.

“Mas dako this year kaysa miaging tuig kay giapil na ang boys and secondary division (This year is bigger than last year’s launch since the boys category and secondary division were already included),” Pates said.

The volleyfest, which offers cash prizes of P5,000, P4,000 and P3,000 to the top three teams in each category, is in partnership with Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office and Department of Education Davao City.

Pates also said, “All teams were selected through Deped’s district meets.”

Commissioner Maxey, meanwhile, said, “This is one of our grassroots sports programs for volleyball. We want to provide an avenue for volleyball players from public schools in the city to engage in a healthy and competitive environment through this event.” Maxey will be witnessing the games of the three-day meet.
