24 nabbed in Kalinaw

Police continue operation to serve community, arrest wanted persons

TWENTY-FOUR persons were arrested by the authorities during the Oplan Kalinaw in the different barangays of the city yesterday morning.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum told TIMES that the simultaneous operations resulted in the background check and profiling of 1,681 residents, including 269 individuals who have no identification cards.

Tagum identified those arrested as Ronar Liza, Maria Luzviminda, Anita Juridico, Carmelita Aquino, Yolanda Dela Peña, Jessie Guzman, and Joel Diente (illegal gambling); Lorenzo Ambuat, Levi E Gomez, Marvin Fuallo,

and Leopoldo Rivera (theft); Junel Dajao (trespass to dwelling ); Kenjie Sasaki (acts of lasciviousness); Ruther Batobalani (frustrated murder); Anna Marie Parpan (illegal recruitment); Leonardo Sarsona (malicious mischief); Virgilio Aman (SSS law); Ruel Panibon (grave oral defamation); Felix Rungdoen (election law); Richard Barbano (child abuse) and Joshua Quijada (murder).

Three others were arrested in the act of committing crime. They were identified as Rowena Oliveros Gica and

Emilio Cuba Alton (illegal gambling) and Val Roy Ugdang (qualified theft).

Tagum also said a total of 902 residents availed of the free medical check-up, with 713 of them received free medicines and vitamins.

Good Samaritans also shared their blessings.

Dr. Jude Enriquez and wife Dra. Neda Enriquez of H-Plus, DJ Cabalatungan of GX International, Annaize Albios of One M Pharmaceuticals provided free checkup services to the residents in the area under Talomo Police Precinct.

In Barangay 76-A, also in Talomo, a total of 100 resident certificates were issued to residents of Purok 23, Talisay, Times Beach.

The simultaneous operation was conducted around 6 a.m. yesterday by the joint security forces and law enforcement units led by DCPO with the assistance of Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard XI, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) XI, Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group XI, Regional Intelligence Unit, 44th SAC, RCDD, and City Health Office.

The Oplan: Kalinaw is a 4-in-1 package that aimed to:

Identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in the urban poor communities in the City;  Manhunt operation/arrest of wanted persons/fugitives hiding in these communities;

Community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins, and

Community Empowerment thru Crime Prevention Education.

Yesterday’s operation was conducted in Barangay 37-D under Sta. Ana Police Precinct; Brgy 19-B, (Fatima Village, Bacaca) under San Pedro Police Precinct; Brgy 76-A (Purok 23, Isla Suerte, Times Beach) under Talomo Police Precinct; Brgy. Panacan (Purok 24, Kalderohan, Malagamot) under Sasa Police Precinct; Brgy. Mandug (Sto. Niño) under Buhangin Police Precinct; Brgy. Lasang (Licanan) under Bunawan Police Precinct; Brgy. Bato (Prk. 13, Urban) under Toril Police Precinct; Brgy. Santo Niño (Prk. 23, Sitio Saloy) under Tugbok Police Precinct; and Brgy. Calinan (Prk. 21, San Roque) under Calinan Police Precinct.
