2017 Kadayawan Basketball Invitational tips off

Games today – Davao City Recreation Center

4 p.m. – Opening ceremonies

5 p.m. – DLSU vs. UST

7 p.m. – Dvo All-Stars vs. FEU

The much-anticipated 2017 Kadayawan Basketball Invitational tournament tips off in grand ritest today, 4 p.m. at the Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras gym)

Three teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and a local collegiate selection will spice up the four-day league sanctioned by the SBP-XI chapter.

UAAP many-time champion the De La Salle Green Archers which will banner the Royal Mandaya Hotel/City Mayor’s Office colors will head this year’s cast to be joined by the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers. Joining them is the Davao City All-Star collegiate selection comprising promising players from Holy Cross of Davao College, St. John Paul II College of Davao, Jose Maria Colleges and Agro Industrial Foundation.

City Sports Development Division OIC Michael Denton Aportadera will be initiating the opening remarks and to be joined by City Administrator Atty. Zulieka Lopez who will also be giving the inspirational talk.

Both will be joined by Atty. Manases R. Carpio and SBP-XI Director Glenn Escandor in doing the traditional ceremonial toss which will follow shortly after the program.

De La Salle University Green Archers play the UST Growling Tigers in the first match-up at 4 p.m. to be followed by the Davao Collegiate All-Stars against the FEU Tamaraws at 7 p.m.

Two games are to be played each playing date following the single round-robin format. The top two teams will then move on to the winner-take-all finals while the third and fourth seeded teams will play for third place.
