2017 Escandor Cup hoopfest Ateneo nips DCNHS, 93-45 for 2nd win

ATENEO de Davao University outplayed Davao City National High, 93-45 to sport its second win in three matches in the ongoing elimination round of the 2017 Emilio Escandor Cup Inter-School Junior basketball tournament played at the Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras Gym), Sunday.

It was the second straight win for the Blue Knights after forfeiting its initial game next to Jose Maria Colleges for fielding in an ineligible player in which they voluntarily submit. The Blue Knights eye win number three when they play rival Assumption College of Davao when the tournament resumes Saturday, March 11 at the same venue. Francis Escandor along with Axel Doromal, Ion Angeles and Darryl Manliguez are expected to deliver the blows for Ateneo at their 8 a.m. match-up.

Sunday matches saw Jose Maria Colleges of Philippine Women’s College, 54-46; Davao Jones Academy on top off Holy Cross of Sasa, 100-33; Assumption College of Davao over EMAR Learning Center, 70-59; Holy Child College of Davao on Ford Academy of the Arts, 79-76 and Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High upsetting Agro Industrial Foundation College, 68-61.

Other games to be featured on Saturday, March 11 are Ford Academy next to Daniel R. Aguinaldo NH at 9:30 a.m., Davao Jones against Agro at 1 p.m., EMAR versus JMC at 2:30 p.m. and Holy Child against Holy Cross Sasa at 4 p.m.

The games are under the supervision of the SBP-XI chapter. –
