20 nabbed in Oplan Kalinaw

TWENTY individuals, mostly with pending arrest warrants, were apprehended by the authorities as the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) continued its Oplan Kalinaw Thursday morning.

Operatives also checked and profiled 1,009 persons, including 126 residents who don’t have any identification cards, in the simultaneous operations conducted in the different barangays in the city, said DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp Maria Teresita Gaspan.

identified the arrested fugitives as:

Jimboy Awa Hadugan (murder); Warlito Mahinay Carbonero and Mark Dominique Blanco Panaguiton (both for rape); Maribeth Jumawan Estomo (illegal recruitment in large scale); Anthony Collante a.k.a Jonathan Fullante (attempted murder),

Robert Bustamante Quimado (liquor ban); Renato Roque Eleses (resistance and disobedience); Daisy Indencia Muyco (grave slander); Joel Candones Adriasola (bouncing check); Josephine Napoco Modina and Aileen Montos Dignos (both for SSS law); Romel Salon Abecia, Manny Ilagan Borja and Richard Namusog Velasco (all for theft); and Amelita Baguio Chavez, Carmelito Gamad Lapoot, Jeraldine Morales Malapayafor, Ricky Mhel Bravo Nineza and Larry Amad Serrano (all for illegal gambling).

Robbery suspect Arnulfo Padillo was arrested through police response after he was reported to have been bringing a bladed weapon. It turned out that Padillo is a suspected robbery operating in San Pedro area.

said a total of 565 residents availed of the free medical check-up and supplemental food feeding and 659 others received free medicines and vitamins.

The latest Oplan Kalinaw was conducted in the police areas of Sta. Ana (Purok 6, Barangay 27-C); San Pedro (Puroks 2, 3, 4 Brgy 1-A); Talomo (Peoples Village, Brgy Maa); Sasa (Sagrada Familia, Km. 13, Brgy Panacan); Buhangin (Brgy Waan); Bunawan (Brgy San Isidro); Toril (Sitio Lipadas, Brgy Daliao); Tugbok (Sitio Sinian, Brgy. Escuela); and Calinan (Brgy. Riverside).

Aiding the DCPO in the weekly operations are Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard-Davao, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) XI, Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) XI, Regional Intelligence Unit, 44th Special Action Company, RCDD and City Health Office.

The four-hour operations ended at 11 a.m of the same day.

The Oplan Kalinaw is a four-in-one joint area security and community service protection operation, aiming to:

  • identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communities in the city,
  • manhunt operations/arrest of wanted persons/fugitives hiding in these communities,
  • community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins, and
  • community empowerment thru crime prevention education.
