2 nabbed in P2M drug raid

TWO HIGH-VALUE targets were arrested in a raid that led authorities to seize almost P2 million worth of illegal drugs Thursday night in Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Director Antonio Rivera of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspects as Sabas Jayme, 40, and Brendalyn Mae Lllego, 32, both residents of Purok Maligaya, Astorga.

Rivera led a joint composite team, headed by the PDEA, in serving the court-issued search warrant against the two suspects in their house at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Aiding the operation were the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit led by Chief Insp Ernesto Gregore, the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Mary Grace Martinez, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion led by SPO3 James Rafniel Rago.

The authorities seized various illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P1.988 million – four bundles of suspected dried marijuana weighing around 400 grams worth P68,000 and three packs of suspected shabu weighing around 120 grams worth P1,920,000.
They also recovered several plastic sachets with suspected shabu residue and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to the PDEA’s Laboratory Section for qualitative and quantitative examination.

The suspects are now detained at the detention facility of the PDEA regional office pending the filing of drug charges in court.
