2 Koreans charged for kidnapping

THE TWO Koreans sued for alleged kidnapping and estafa complaints were charged by the Office of the City Prosecutor.

The resolution of Prosecutor Joy C. Bernales- Largo, approved by Prosecutor Shahruddin Roberto O. Cencio, dated Feb. 23 found probable cause to indict Jeongpyo Hong and Inryoul Park for kidnapping and serious illegal detention under Art. 267 of Revised Penal Code and for estafa under Art 315 paragraph 2, sub-paragraph (e) of the Revised Penal Code.

The two were arrested in a police operation on Feb. 17 based on the complaint by Nam Joung Nam and Michell Anne Porras.

Nam claimed that on Feb. 15 and 16, Hong and Park allegedly abducted him and demanded a P1 million ransom from his family.

In the afternoon of Feb. 16, Nam was able to escape through the help of his friend, Park Ui Jeung, and they sought the help of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- Eastern Mindanao Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDG- Davao).

It was also learned that Hong and Park checked in at Chateau Veronica Apartelle from Feb. 8 to Feb. 15 but failed to settle their accounts amounting to P18,180.
