2 DSWD workers nabbed in illegal drug operation

TWO GOVERNMENT employees were arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI in a buy-bust operation at 11:45 a.m. along Pagatpat Street, Phase 2, S.I.R. Matina, Talomo District.

Meanwhile, nine suspected drug pushers were also arrested in an operation conducted at Sta. Cruz, Barangay Duterte, Agdao District on Tuesday night.

Nephi Dimaandal, spokesperson of PDEA XI, identified the suspects as Rexford Irvin Pardillo, 29, and Mark Ugmad, 33, both contractual employees of Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) XI.

They allegedly sold P3,000 worth of shabu to an undercover agent.

Meanwhile, Frederico Gallentes, 37, painter and resident of Sta. Cruz, Barangay Duterte was arrested in an operation around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gallentes was arrested for selling one sachet of suspected shabu worth P1, 000 to a PDEA agent. Another sachet of suspected shabu was also recovered from his possession.

During the conduct of anti-drug operation, eight of his relatives and neighbors were arrested after they were caught in the act having a shabu session.

They were identified as Bobby Gallentes, Agustin Gallentes, Angelo Bantiles, Ariel Timario, Arlito Monterola, Roberto Sagayon, Wildemer Campos and Raymond Magdadaro.

Recovered from them were three plastic sachets with shabu residue, 13 sticks of suspected dried marijuana leaves and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Adzhar Albani, PDEA XI director, said they conducted an operation against Gallentes after receiving several reports about his illegal activities.

The suspects are now detained in the detention facility of the Philippine Drug Enforcement agency XI for filing of appropriate charges for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The PDEA XI has now intensified their operation against illegal drugs after President Rodrigo Duterte suspended the Philippine National Police’s role in the government’s drug war.

Last Friday night, they arrested two alleged drug dealers in separate operations conducted along Carnation Street, Buhangin and in Barangay Sto. Niño, Panabo City, Davao Del Norte.

The suspects were identified as Joevanni R. Oca, 39, married and resident of the 22-1 Carnation Street. He was arrested after selling one sachet of shabu worth P500 to an agent who acted as buyer around 9:50 p.m.

Another four small sachets of shabu with a street value of P 12,000, assorted drug paraphernalia and the P500 marked money were also recovered from his possession.

The other suspect was Marlon E. Bael, 39, tricycle driver and resident of Peda Street, Barangay San Francisco, Panabo City. He reportedly sold a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to a PDEA agent along Mabitad Street, Purok Manga, Barangay Sto. Niño around 9 p.m.
