2 arrested over loose firearms

THE CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group arrested a suspect over  illegal firearms following a raid in Barangay Pundaguitan in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental at 6 a.m. of Saturday.

The joint team of CIDG-Davao Oriental, Governor Generoso Municipal Police Station, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office and 2nd Company of 11th Regional Safety Battalion arrested Bobby Lapuc inside his residence.

They raided the house of Lapuc through the search warrant for a case of violation of RA 10591 or “Illegal Possession of Firearms” issued by Judge Emilio G. Dayanghirang III of Branch 32, 11th Judicial Region in Lupon dated Feb. 19, 2016.

Supt. Danilo P. Macerin, acting regional director of CIDG-XI ,said the operation is part of their campaign against loose firearms.

Seized from him was one Norinco caliber .45 pistol with 1 and 2 standard magazines loaded with 16 live ammunitions.

They also raided the houses of Rico Silo in Barangay Magdug and Ezequel Guila in Barangay Labigan but the suspects were able to escape.

But they were able to recover two caliber .22 rifles  and one caliber 9mm  homemade pistol with 10 live ammunitions.

Also seized from Guila’s house were 12 bullets for a .357 handgun; one live ammunition of caliber .45 pistol and eight empty cartridges of .357.

The arrested suspects are now detained in CIDG-Davao Oriental headquarters. They will also face a cse for violating the Comelec gun ban.
