19 wanted persons nabbed in joint enforcement operations

NINETEEN persons with arrest warrants were hauled off to different police precincts to face their charges following the joint Oplan: Kalinaw simultaneous operations in nine barangays starting at 6 a.m. yesterday morning.

City police director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum told TIMES yesterday that the operations resulted in the identity check and profiling of 1,250 residents, 118 of whom could not present any IDs. They were made to sign the police logbook before being released.

Among the suspects arrested were John Paul S. Rusiana for qualified theft; Sacresia P. Villote for violation of BP 22; Allan B. Dagasohan, Romeo A. Amargo, Richard D. Pascual and Albert B. Zapanta, all for violation of PD 449 (illegal cockfighting).

Also arrested were Marino Jayno for serious physical injuries and damage to property; Rommel Roz for the crime of bigamy; Ramil Dumayac for violation of SSS Law; Anthony D. Navarro for slight physical injury; Christopher P. Galabin and Ronel A. Canete, both for alarm and scandal.

Joseph Paisano was also detained for slight physical injuries; Jeffrey S. Lumactod for violation of Sec. 2 (B) of Davao City Ordinance No. 060-02; Ebrencio F. Indoyon for violation of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices); John Lord Y. Yee for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act); Jobert S. Gumera and Mark Pacalda Ferolino for the crime of alarm and scandal; and Jason dela Pena for qualified theft.

The simultaneous operation was meant to weed out the criminals from the communities, conduct profiling of the residents, initiate community outreach and medical-checkup, and raise awareness through crime prevention education.

The operations were conducted in the Sta. Ana Police Precinct area (South Bay, Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao); San pedro (Barangay 5-A Pag-Asa, Bankerohan); Talomo (Santiago, Barangay 74-A, Matina); Sasa (Km. 11 Muslim Village, Sasa); Buhangin (Waling-Waling Street, Buhangin District); Bunawan (Purok 14, Alias Tondo, Bunawan); Toril (Lote Ferriols, Barangay Lizada, Toril); Tugbok (Sitio Sinalikway, Barangay Bago Oshiro, Tugbok District); and Calinan (Purok 3B-Balani, Campo 1., Barangay Talomo River, Calinan).

In addition, 888 residents availed of the free medical checkup and 849 persons were recipients of free medicines and vitamins. The joint operation ended at 9 a.m. yesterday.

Led by the DCPO, the operation was also joined by Task Force Davao, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Philippine Coastguard XI, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency XI, Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group XI, Regional Intelligence Unit , Regional Community Relations Division, Police Regional Office Health Service, and City Health Office.
