THE CITY Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) has identified 1,853 individuals affected by the fire last Friday.

In an interview, CSSDO Buhangin District coordinator Norman Baloro said the city has released its initial data on the victims. There were 426 total house owners affected by the fire, with 424 whose houses were totally damaged.

The homes of the two from the affected homes were only partially affected. Also affected were 186 renters, 129 sharers, and 38 boarders.

As of Wednesday, the CSSDO has estimated the total cost of damage to P82 million, from an initial P3 million last week. Baloro said the total affected individuals from the fire numbered 1,853, with the CSSDO identifying 741 families from the 426 houses.

The CSSDO identified the extent of the damage through a house-to-house validation.

Affected areas were Purok 1, Muslim village, and zones 4 and 5 of Fatima village, the areas all belonging to Barangay Sasa.

Since the fire, the CSSDO also provided the victims with food and non-food items such as mosquito nets, blankets, mats, kitchen utensils, and used clothes. The fire victims will each receive cash assistance per family depending on the extent of the damage.

Those whose homes were totally damaged will receive P10,000, while those whose homes were partially damaged receive P5,000 in cash assistance. Families of renters and sharers will also receive P5,000 each, while boarders receive P2,000 each.
