16 nabbed in Kalinaw

SIXTEEN persons, mostly with warrants of arrest, were arrested yesterday during the latest implementation of Oplan Kalinaw.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum told TIMES that the simultaneous operations resulted in the identity check and profiling of 1,464 residents, including 154 individuals who have no identification cards.

Tagum identified the arrested individuals as Aldrin Arado Siacor (rape), Elmer Tolentino (robbery), Jairey Renegado Rodes (attempted murder), May Parcon Lawan (SSS law), Crisboy Tagaunsod Ilang (gun law), Rogelio Jimenez Iroc Jr. (violence against women and their children), Ana Leah Lumpas Roncal (falsification of public document), Jerson Sandoy Lumbab (liquor ban), Estella Mae Partoza (malicious mischief), Jhonvier Candoc Manlangit (grave threats and slight physical injuries), John Arce Lisondra dela Cruz (firecracker ban), Jesus Villanueva Similatan and Samuel Domingo Puna (illegal gambling), and Lowie Cañete Lapinosa, Ruben Baro Maravilla and Elmar Espinosa (slight physical injury).

As the operations aim to give public service to the community, a total of 623 residents availed of the free medical check-up and supplemental feeding and 350 others received free medicines and vitamins.

The Oplan Kalinaw, a four-in-one package, is designed to:
- initiate the identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in our urban poor communities in the city,
- manhunt operations/arrest of wanted persons/fugitives hiding in these communities,
- community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins,
- community empowerment thru crime prevention education.
The four-hour simultaneous operations that started at around 6 a.m. yesterday were conducted in the areas of Sta. Ana (Purok 4, Sales Street, Barangay 28-C); San Pedro (Puroks 1 & 7, Magallanes, Brgy. 2-A); Talomo (Badjao Village, Brgy. Matina Aplaya); Sasa (Km. 14, Fax Compound, Brgy. Panacan); Buhangin (Km. 11, Purok 32 Mountain View, Brgy. Cabantian); Bunawan (Brgy. Bunawan); Toril (Purok 2, Sitio Brgy. Sirawan); Tugbok (Brgy. Ula); and Calinan (Purok 3, Brgy. Tamayong).
Aiding the DCPO in the regular weekly operations are Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Intelligence Unit, 44th Special Action Company, Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents and City Health Office.
