Taken as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, DCWD subsidized the fees of the 20-day training program for the OSY beneficiaries chosen from RCWWD’s adopted areas in Davao City. The training program with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority as training provider was designed to equip the beneficiaries with the basic know-how on plumbing to boost their employability skills.

Present during the graduation rites were RCWWD past president and DCWD director Ma. Luisa L. Jacinto who extended her congratulations and assured that the program will continue to help more OSYs in the city. The manager of DCWD’s Community Relations Division Engr. Rosindo J. Almonte also said that they will monitor and extend assistance to the graduates as they seek employment.

DCWD has been giving plumbing skills training for 11 years now. The most recent beneficiaries include the 35 senior high school teachers who completed the DCWD-sponsored Training of Trainers plumbing methodology in August 2017 and Plumbing Skills Proficiency for Teachers in 2016. These same teachers were able to pass the Plumbing NC II exam in December 2016. (Camille Margarette U. Solon)
