10 IEDs found in NPA camp

TEN IMPROVISED explosive devices (IED) were recovered by the soldiers of 25th Infantry Battalion in the hinterlands of Trento, Agusan del Sur on April 6.

Lt. Col. Oscar Balignasay, the commander of 25th IB, told TIMES that the recovery of the IEDs was based on a tip of two members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who surrendered earlier.

The troops proceeded to Sitio Maot, Barangay Pangyan, Trento, Agusan del Sur to respond to the information given by the NPAs about hidden IEDs in the said barangay.

At 8:15 a.m., they discovered an abandoned encampment and found 10 IEDs weighing 8-10 kilograms each.

In his statement, Balignasay said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines will continue its pursuit of bringing peace in poor communities.

“We will not lower our guard against any armed threats that can harm the peaceful lives of our people,” the commander added.
