1 rebel killed in firefight

An unidentified member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in a clash in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Tag-ugpo, Pantukan, Compostela Valley around 5:45 a.m., Tuesday.

Chief Insp Milgrace Driz, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) XI, reported that elements of the 66th Infantry Battalion reportedly encountered around five communist guerrillas who were reportedly scouting the area.

The firefight lasted for about 15 minutes before the NPAs pulled out toward the southwest direction.
Soldiers recovered one .45 caliber pistol from the site with three bullets. It’s now in the custody of the battalion.

Meanwhile, the remains of the alleged NPA were brought to the Barangay Hall of Barangay Tag-ugpo, Pantukan, Compostela Valley in the hopes that somebody will be able to identify it.
