1 paramilitary member slain, 2 hurt in blast

A MEMBER of the military unit was killed while his two companions sustained wounds when a grenade exploded while they were trying to remove a streamer announcing the anniversary of the New People’s Army in T’boli, South Cotabato Sunday.
Col. Romeo Brawner, spokesperson of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said Moreno Eding, Dante Digdigan and Samuel Damucom were among those trying to remove the streamer of the rebels when the grenade that the rebels planted on the streamer exploded.

Witnesses brought the victim to the T’boli Evangelical Clinic Incorporated in Brgy’ Edwards, T’boli, South Cotabato where Eding died.
“Employing booby traps is an inhumane act and a clear violation of the International humanitarian law because the trap cannot choose its targets,” said Lt. Gen. Aurelio Baladad, commander of the unit.

Baladad warned the public to be conscious in accepting anything from the rebels, saying this may endanger their lives.
